Tropical Grapes? In a Desert? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Justin West
Wednesday, 16 May 2007

I just came across a very interesting article that talks about new vinyards in tropical/desert regions from Brazil and India. Many wine brokers are investing good money in these new regions that can harvest all year long, but many critics are skeptical in the quality of grapes that will come from these regions. However, the same criticisms were made back when grapes were first grown in the 'New World'.

Time will tell, but in the mean time, you can read the wilmingtonstar.com article for yourself.

Elaine Hoffmeister Mooney, the winemaker from Sainte Genevieve Winery will be at our meeting to do a presentation on their winery.  She will be covering everything it takes from when the vines start growing until the wine is bottled.  This will covered from a commercial winery standpoint.  This should be an interesting presentation.  She also is bringing some wines for us to sample.

As usual, the meeting will start 7PM May 10th at the Holiday Inn Express in Warrenton, MO
