October MVWS Wine Meeting — Holiday Inn Express in Warrenton at 7pm.
When you buy a bottle of wine, do you pour you a glass and smell the aroma of the wine? Can you detect the various aromas that are in that wine. Some wines have a smell of plums, berries, chocolate, tobacco, cherries or straw. The list of different kinds of aromas in a wine goes on. Well, if you would like to experience how to detect these and other kinds of aromas in a wine, come to the October meeting. We will be featuring the aroma wheel. The Wine Aroma Wheel was created by Ann C Noble in 1990. The wheel is an incredible and useful tool to learn about wines and enhance one's ability to describe the complexity of wine flavor. The wheel is made of three tiers. It has very general terms located in the center (e.g. fruity or chemical), going to the most specific term in the outer tier (e.g. grapefruit or strawberries). These terms are not the only terms that can be used to describe wines but represent the ones that are most often encountered. Several different kinds of wine will be featured to have everyone expand their palate and learn to experience how to detect various aromas in a wine.
Team trivia will be played also.
